The primary
mission of Virtual Corporation (VC) is to advance your knowldege in your major
by trying to solve real-world problems. By providing a nontraditional classroom
environment, VC promotes self-learning and development of awareness of
transportation and medical issues within our society.
VC's structure is an extact replica
of how real-world business corporations operate. VC is subdivided into various
design teams that focus on a area of interest. Some examples of areas of
interest that have been seen in VC are wireless communication design, bluetooth
coding, computer modelling, and DC motor design. With vast amounts of teams
from which you can choose, you will be able to learn about various topics which
are not covered in detail in other classes. Because of its structure, students
are encouraged to have a cross-functional team interaction while gaining
hand-on experience on how to influence public policy in both engineering and
business practice. Another aspect of VC is to promote professional ethics and
social responsibilities that are heavily weighted in the business corporations
nowadays.
Other than the experience you can acquire in VC, you can use this course
towards graduation or even as a technical elective*. Currently, up to 3-credit
hours are available to be taken as an independent/special study status for both
undergraduate and graduated students.
Although a majority of the students in VC are of an electrical/computer
engineering background, the current roster includes members of numerous other
disciplines in engineering as well as business.
*Technical electives are only available for computer and electrical engineering
majors.
