  • To advance student's knowledge in their major field of study and to use their current knowledge base in a perspective manner for solving problems arising in the VC.
  • To provide learning in a nontraditional environment.
  • To promote self-learning.
  • To develop an awareness for the emerging socially challenging infrastructure (technical) problems of society and to develop solutions within the present social, engineering and business context and constraints.
  • To learn public policy as it pertains to the engineering and business practice and to learn how to influence public policy.
  • To develop an appreciation for the complexities involved in product design and development.
  • To gain hands-on experience.
  • To promote problem solving capability.
  • To learn and promote cross-functional team interaction.
  • To learn the role of management, marketing, finance, and business administration in a corporation by participation.
  • To learn techniques for proposal writing, budgeting, effective oral and written presentations, time management and scheduling, meeting deadlines, and to develop effective communication skills with people of different expertise.
  • To promote professional ethics and social responsibilities.
